Graveyard was formed in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The quartet features Rikard Edlund (bass), Axel Sjoberg (Drums), Joakim Nilsson (Guitar/Vocals), and Jonathan Ramm (Guitar/Vocals). When recording of the album was completed ex-member Truls Morck quit and was replaced immediately by Ramm. Upon their initial formation Graveyard quickly recorded a two track demo, which would serve as a preview of what was to come. After playing only three gigs, Graveyard managed to find themselves with two record deals, a European deal with Swedish label Transubstans and a North American deal with Tee Pee Records.
Graveyards debut album was recorded and produced by Don Ahlsterberg (Soundtrack of our Lives, The International Noise Conspiracy, Jose Gonzalez), whose analog production gave the record its vintage sound. The band are at the moment finishing up recording of their 2nd album which will be released spring next year. Like the first album it's being recorded and produced by Don Ahlsterberg.
Graveyard performed at 2008 year's SXSW festival, it was there the famed Rolling Stone Rock Writer David Fricke witnessed the band's live act and wrote a piece on the band in his "Fricke's Picks" column. Fricke wrote, "If Graveyard had man an early Seventies private-pressing LP that didn't sell squat, they would be record collector legends." This piece brought increased attention to Graveyard. The bands reputation as a great liveband has also been building in Europe where Graveyard has received great reviews for their live performances.
The band is booked through out the globe by The Agency Group. And after taken Graveyard on as a client after seeing them perform at SXSW it wasn't long until they were offered two major US tours, one with fellow Swedish rock brethren, Witchcraft and the other with metal heavyweights Clutch and The Sword.
From the combination of being a great live act and having the ability to write and record great songs the future is looking really bright for Graveyard. The band is standing on a solid foundation of classic rock but Graveyard is more than just your average rockband. The bands open mind towards adapting and bringing in different musical influences - from everything in between hardrock, rock, blues, folk and jazz - makes the band stand out in the crowd. And the good thing for a band like Graveyard is that ...... you don't have to put a label on being great.
