Two nights with Joshua James, celebrating the release of his newest album, "My Spirit Sister" - Join us for one night, or both. Although here at home in Utah we are accustomed to the critical acclaim for Joshua and his band, he's had a little more notable attention recently:

"Why You Should Pay Attention: Joshua James has been making thoughtful, unorthodox folk music for over a decade now. The Lincoln, Nebraska-born artist, who splits his time between his home state and American Fork, Utah, first gained attention with 2008's The Sun Is Always Brighter, and has released a series of increasingly ambitious albums since. His forthcoming album My Spirit Sister, out later this year, is his rootsiest yet, though not without the philosophical, cerebral lyrics for which James has come to be known. It's a record that poses a lot of questions – and more often than not, the beauty of the music is answer enough."

"...James’ whispered voice, incisive lyrics and songs that balance his introspective tendencies with sweet, taut melodies make this a compelling listen. Reverbed, often floating guitars collide with sing-along choruses that creep up on you, sneaking into your head and swirling around. That’s especially the case on “Real Love,” a misleading title since the protagonist sings, “…is there any hope for real love?” before repeating, “tell everybody in my head,” on a song that switches tempos almost halfway through, perhaps indicating the mental instability of the singer."
