In this workshop presented by Craft Lake City and the Book Arts Program at the University of Utah, bookmaking expert Allison Milham will guide attendees through the process of making a personal handbound journal. Participants will learn the buttonhole long-stitch technique, which is a multi-signature, non-adhesive binding. The buttonhole long-stitch is relatively quick and simple to bind; yet once the basics are learned, limitless creative interpretations are possible. This binding features an exposed, decorative sewing on the spine and opens completely flat, making it ideal for a sketchbook, journal or photo album. Workshop students will gain basic skills in hand bookbinding while learning this versatile and accessible book structure!

Please note that all workshop participants are required to arrive 15 minutes prior to the workshop start time.
