The Lower Lights
Take one part “O Brother, Where Art Thou”, one part campfire folk music, one part candlelit concert, and one part stompy gospel revival, then mix it all up. Sprinkle in some wicked guitar/banjo/mandolin solos, a frontline of fantastic singers, and a pinch (or two) of the unexpected and that’s The Lower Lights. If you need a tidy genre, how about: gospel-folk-bluegrass-icana? Or, more succinctly, “great music.” The band breathes vibrant new life into classic hymns, Hank Williams’ gospel tunes, old school country songs, Celtic ballads, even songs by Stevie Wonder and Dolly Parton. And they're bringing it all to This Is The Place Heritage Park outdoor amphitheater in Salt Lake City on Saturday August 11th.
Founded in 2009, The Lower Lights is a collective of many prominent Utah-rooted musicians, each with their own respective projects and careers. The band has released six successful albums and packs historic Kingsbury Hall in Salt Lake City for multiple nights each holiday season for their Christmas concerts.
