Have you wanted to explore the world of natural dyes? Do mordants seem a little overwhelming? Then this class is for you! We will be exploring bundle dye on silk with a variety of natural materials that give color to cloth. Silk is a great choice for beginners, as it works well with natural dyes. Botanical bundle-dyeing is a perfect way for beginners to dive right into the craft and walk away with a beautiful finished piece. The workshop will give you the experience of creating a naturally-dyed silk bandana as well as time to digest and talk about fiber types, mordants and frequent terms used in the natural dye process. Let’s gather and bundle beautiful little parcels of magic together! All materials & aprons will be provided, however we strongly recommend wearing clothing that you are comfortable getting dye on (as Craft Lake City is not responsible for damages incurred to clothing or personal items).

This workshop is held at the Utah State Fairpark during the 13th Annual Craft Lake City DIY Festival Presented By Harmons. Note that if purchased in advance, your workshop ticket will include a single-day entry to the DIY Festival for use on the day of your workshop (a value of $7 included in your workshop ticket price!). If your workshop ticket is purchased on-site at the DIY Festival, a separate admission ticket will be required for an additional fee.
