Upcoming events at The Gallivan Center
Artisan Amanda Stokes founded Tightly Bound Books in 2016 after being in the bookbinding industry for 9 years. Her vision is to share the old art of bookbinding and book repair with the community. In this Craft Lake City workshop at The Gallivan Center, Stokes will lead attendees through the process of stitching together hand-bound rustic leather journals with a link stitch. Join us to learn basic bookbinding skills and leave with a leather journal to keep for yourself or to gift to a friend this holiday season.--
Craft Lake City® is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Our mission is to educate, promote and inspire local artisans while elevating the creative culture of the Utah arts community through science, technology and art.
In support of our mission, Craft Lake City holds DIY workshops all year long featuring some of Utah’s most skilled artisans. Workshop topics run the gamut from gourmet food to floral arranging to fiber arts. Take a workshop to perfect a skill, kick-start a new hobby, meet like-minded people and support the local maker movement.
Visit our website to view our upcoming workshop schedule: craftlakecity.com/workshops/. Register early as our most popular workshop topics sell out quickly! Sign up for our newsletter to be among the first to know when workshops are listed.--
Did you know? Craft Lake City also produces the DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Festival® the second weekend of every August, Utah’s largest local-centric three-day arts festival. The DIY Festival is a can’t-miss summer event, featuring more than 300 local artisans, craft food creators, performers, DIY engineers, on-site workshops, artisan demonstrations, a parenting lounge and VIP area. It’s held annually the second weekend of every August at the Gallivan Center in downtown Salt Lake City. Visit our web site to learn more: craftlakecity.com.
