Pairing pinpoint beats with velvety vocals and a sharp pop sensibility, Obeeyay is one of Utah's most notable rising stars. His music has that polished combination of talent, charisma, energy, andambition—with a dash of Top-40 swagger. Call it nurture and nature, but you can’t deny it with Obeeyay. “It’s all about the song,” he says. “A song goes a long way if it moves you. It doesn’t matter where it was created, in your basement or in a million-dollar studio. It’s how you sculpt that clay—the beats, the melodies, and the words—that matters.”
"Just a Fling" feat. Tiffany Alvord and Shaun Barrowes is out now. His debut EP drops this fall. “I’m more of a high-energy artist, and as I’ve grown as an artist, my vibe is good times,” he says. “I’ve shifted as a person. I don’t want to paint everything red. Things hit different in 2021. The world has changed—even compared to 2020.”
Citing inspiration from artists as varied as Usher, Ty Dolla $ign, and Chance the Rapper, he adds, “They continue to update themselves—to add new angles to their personalities—everyday. That’s what I’m doing. It’s my turn. It’s time for a different flavor.”
