Family Worship Center
Family Worship Center is a Portland-based psych-soul collective known for their explosive live shows, cult-coded mythology, and sprawling ensemble performances that can swell anywhere from 10 to 18 performers onstage. Built around pounding piano, stacked vocal harmonies, horn sections, and groove-heavy arrangements, the band has developed a reputation across the Pacific Northwest as one of the region’s most unpredictable and electrifying live acts.
Originally rooted in a rougher, roots-rock sound somewhere between gospel revival, bar-band soul, and cosmic Americana, the group’s newest material leans into a softer and stranger world. After years of touring, recording, and eventually backing cult-pop visionary Donnie Emerson, Family Worship Center began drifting toward sun-soaked 1970s rock, warm electric pianos, lush harmonies, laid-back grooves, and widescreen arrangements that feel simultaneously nostalgic and slightly unreal.
